Elegant Rustic Cabins® - FAQ about our tiny houses

image1819

What is a tiny house?

Our tiny homes are a miniature cabin on wheels of less than 400 square feet, constructed of wood atop a 10″ Steel I-Beam Platform Frame – with a detachable hitch and tandem axles. Each cabin varies in length depending on floor plan selected, the exterior is covered in SmartSide Siding, in the color of your choice, and there is a 12" overhang off the front & rear, with 2x6 floor joist 16" O.C., double 2x6 perimeter floor joist, 3/4" tongue & groove floor decking, 2x4 exterior walls, 16" O.C., in your choice of colors, with 2x6 rafters, a moisture barrier vapor wrap, double studs every 4'-0, R-13 insulation in the walls, R-22 insulation in the floors, R-19 insulation in the ceiling, the roof of the cabin is done in a colored metal (29 Gauge) with 15# felt paper beneath, and a 7/16" OSB/Tech Shield Radiant Barrier.

A more detailed list can be found here.

Do you delivery cabins to all states?

Yes – However, we are only able to deliver to properties that are fully approved for RV Classified Tiny Homes, and unfortunately in some states personal properties, of all varieties, do not currently have this approval. Therefore, YOU MUST verify with your property’s Zoning Department, located in the county, city or township where the dwelling will reside, as to whether or not an RV Classified Tiny Home (this exact classification) is in fact permitted – PRIOR to requesting a price quote. We require Zoning Confirmation as our very first step - Otherwise it would be a waste of your time and your money, only to learn after the fact that you legally cannot.

Can more space be given to the inside with a smaller front porch?

A FAQ but unfortunately not. In order to maintain RV Classified Tiny House status it must remain less than 400 sq ft. Porches are not considered in that calculation, so space allocated to the interior will be based on floor plan selected. We recommend selecting a larger unit, as floor plan sizes vary.

What type of heating/cooling systems are in these units?

Heating/Cooling Mini-Splits. Just about all tiny home builders are using them now.

Can I change the color scheme used in your tiny homes?

Because we are Tiny Home Custom Builders we build your tiny house on wheels to suit YOU! The color of the exterior siding and roof, as well as the interior walls, floors and ceilings, are all dependent on the choices you select when completing the form to obtain a Price Quote.

Do you arrange any financing?

Not currently, but we do offer several suggestions on where to obtain financing.

How much does a tiny house cost?

A custom built tiny house on wheels are typically priced between $40,000 and $70,000. Tiny houses can obviously go well over $70,000, depending on the number of upgrades added, materials selected, and complexity of the job given to our tiny home custom builders.

How long does it take to build a cabin?

Because they are custom built... build time can vary by layout and depends on how many orders are in progress when a new order comes in. We try to never go beyond 12 weeks.

How do you handle delivery fees?

Delivery fees are worked directly into the pricing of the home. The farther away a property, the more we try to cover some of the fees  - to try and “even them out” with each client.

Who's Responsible for Installation, Hook-ups, Property Work?

Elegant Rustic Cabins® is not responsible in any way whatsoever for the cabin hook-ups/tie-down process upon or after delivery. This is solely the responsibility of our clients and their choice of fully licensed contractor(s) for all connections, hook ups, tie-downs and/or all related (or non-related) property work of any kind whatsoever. All prior property work to be completed, in advance of delivery, is also to be handled by our clients, solely and completely on their end.

Why can't I find a model start to finish, including price?

Because every single cabin we build is custom. Custom built based upon each and every client’s individual customized order. Every client takes one of our floor plans and picks all their desired materials, color choices, etc. and we custom build them for those clients. No two cabins have really ever been the same.

Why did my layout & features get adjusted?

Some features will automatically change with new/modified codes and/or product improvements, etc., and some features will automatically change due to RVIA Code, ANSI Code, our steel construction building codes and/or any construction built to International Building Codes.

Why are there no prices listed and how can I get a price quote?

Because each of our cabins are built to buyer specification it would be impossible to price out a completed unit. Each one is different. Each determined by the following selections you input.

  1. The floor plan selected
  2. The Exterior Color Selected
  3. The Roof Color Selected
  4. Whether Walls, Floors and Ceilings are left natural, painted, stained or upgraded to alternate materials.
  5. Appliances Selected, and whether they are upgraded.
  6. Counter-top materials used, and whether they are upgraded.
  7. If a fireplace exist on the floor plan but buyer elects to upgrade material used.
  8. Whether any number of factors alter the plan, like... adding French Doors, a Screened-in Porch, Increasing the size of an existing porch, adding a Fireplace to a plan which does not include one as a standard item, or maybe a Loft that otherwise did not exist on the original layout. Upgrading the railings to the staircase, increasing storage spaces, even upgrading ceiling fans. Too many options to even note.
  9. Whether any number of additional cabin upgrades are selected.

As you can see, it is nearly impossible to second guess what any new buyer's request would be. Therefore it is virtually impossible to post prices on any unit listed. However, once you know the features you're wanting simply use our easy online form to Request a Quote and we will be happy to help you with that.
